This patriotic bookmark involves split rings and twisted chains.

Load one shuttle with red and one with white thread. Tie threads together.
Starting at the blue arrow:
With red shuttle, SR 2-2-2-2-2-2, white shuttle 6-6, cl r.
With red as the chain thread:
CH, 2-2-2-2-2-2
With red shuttle, SR 2-2-2-2-2-2, white shuttle 6+(to adj. picot of first SR)6, cl r.
Repeat split rings until you have 14 split rings on this side.
Repeat chain as above and finish other side making sure you join to the white picots.

For the blue interwoven motif:
Load shuttle with blue and a blue ball.
This motif hastwisted chain.
To do this, just tat the first half of the ds.
R, 2-2-2-2-2-2, cl r
Make a twisted chain that is 8 inches in length.
Cut and leave enough thread for Tying to other half of interwoven motif.
Make another ring and chain. Weave one half of ring and chain combination following the chart and picture. Now weave in the other half overlapping the first half. Tie at both ends and work in loose ends.
