Varigated thread would be gorgeous.

Repeat from *-* making several arcs of tatted rings.
Make a total of 7 arcs. Or more arcs for a fuller effect.
Tie and work in ends.

Thread a needle using the same thread as the flower.
Go thru the bottom free picots and any other places you
see fit for a gathering stitch. You can either roll the
tatting as you gather to make a rose like flower or simple
gather haphazzardly to make a carnation type flower.
Using florist tape, attach flower to stem of thick wire or
floral stem with leaves. Be creative!
To add extra flare, tat your favourite butterfly. Take a
thinner wire that is 8 inches long and coil the end using a
pencil or dowel rod for just about a half inch or so. Attach
butterfly to coiled end. Using floral tape, attach butterfly
and wire to stem. Bend in shape so that the butterfly looks
as if it is springing and hovering over the flower.
