Very dainty medallions for lingerie, shirtwaists, and other articles are made by
combining tatting with scraps of embroidery. Choose a section with beaded edge,
and cut out neatly; or, if your bits have not the beading, work a simple purling
around in buttonhole-stitch. Directions would vary somewhat, of course, with
the shape of the embroidered medallion, and the arrangement of the purling. The
model is worked as follows:
Row#1
Join ball and shuttle threads to point of embroidered article.
*CH: 5-5, skip two spaces and join in next.
Repeat around, joining last CH where 1st started. Tie and work in ends.
Row#2
*R: 3-3-3+(to p of CH of Row#1)3-3-3, clr, rw
CH: 3-3-3-3-3-3, rw*
Repeat R and CH all around. Join last CH to base of 1st R. Tie and work in ends.
