Valentine's Doll
Valentine Doll
This is an antique doll of my wife's.  It is a 1950s
reproduction of a Jenny Lind, but none the less antique.
We like to make clothes for it.  I made this ensemble for
my wife's Valentines present one year and trimmed it in
tatting.  The dress is made of pink satin lining fabric with
a matching hat.  The tatting is done out of Anchor perle
coton size 12 burgundy thread.  It is a simple dimpled
ring and chain edging to emulate the hearts for Valentines.
The skirt is a six panel A-frame style with button closure
at the back.  The wasteband has a ring and chain tatting
edge with a center 4 ring medallion.   The bolero style
top has legamutton sleeve gathered at the elbow with
chiffon and satin ribbons.  End of sleeves are edged with
tatted dimpled ring and chain.  The collar is just two rows
of ring and chain facing each other, joined, and then
comes to with a 3 dimpled ring clover.  The top closure
is two cloverleafs with a crocheted cord that slips over a
pearl button.  The hat is made of cardboard stabilizer
with the same pink fabric covering it.  Embellished with
chiffon and satin ribbons and feathers.
